M. L. Kumawat

M. L. Kumawat, former Director General of the Border Security Force, was commissioned in the Indian Police Service in 1972 in the Andhra Pradesh Cadre. He was appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Sardar Patel University of Police, Security, and Criminal Justice in Jodhpur, Rajasthan where he served from 2012-2015.

Kumawat has served as the Chairman of several dignified platforms such as the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (2010-2011) and the State-level Recruitment Board, Government of Andhra Pradesh (2004-2005). He is the mastermind behind Creation of ‘Commando Battalion for Resolute Action’ (COBRA) for tackling the Maoist challenge, and Establishment of a Police University. He is the recipient of several prestigious awards such as the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (1997), and the Police medal for Meritorious Service (1989).

Kumawat will be actively involved with The Jodhpur Initiative in building Citizen Engagement and Safe Living.
